Rongcheng Shipbuilding Enterprise

Before the founding of the People's Republic of China, most shipyards in Rongcheng were privately owned, mainly producing hand cranked craft boats for offshore fishing. After more than 60 years of development since the founding of the People's Republic of China, Rongcheng has become a modern shipbuilding base with 44 various types of ship repair and construction enterprises, more than 50 ship supporting enterprises, and an annual shipbuilding capacity of 1 million deadweight tons. It can manufacture large container ships, passenger roll on/roll off ships, heavy lift bulk carriers, yachts, and modern fishing boats. It is in a leading position in Shandong Province, with 6 shipbuilding enterprises listed in the 2009 China Shipbuilding Industry Top 100 Enterprises Ranking.
